Questions people actually ask
Cost, revenue, contactless, safety, contracts, compliance and how fast we can install. If yours isn’t here, call — we’ll answer it plainly.
Do your ATMs accept contactless tap?
Yes — tap a phone, a watch or a contactless card and go. There is no card to insert, nothing to wait for and nothing to leave behind in the reader. It is faster per transaction, which matters when there is a line, and a growing share of customers now expect it as a default rather than a feature.
My current ATM does not take tap. Why not?
Because contactless requires current-generation hardware, and upgrading a fleet is expensive. An operator running a few hundred older machines is looking at a very large bill to add tap, so most of them do not — they keep earning on equipment bought years ago. The machines still function, so the issue is invisible until a customer walks up, taps, nothing happens, and they leave. If you are comparing providers, asking whether their machine accepts a tap is a fast way to find out how they are investing in your location.
My store does not offer cash back at the register. Is that good or bad for an ATM?
It is one of the strongest signals there is. If your cashiers are regularly telling customers no when they ask for cash back, that is unmet demand walking out of your building every day. Discount and dollar-format retail is a good example — most of those chains have no cash-back policy, their customers frequently prefer cash, and there is often no bank nearby. Machines in that environment tend to outperform what the store's size would suggest.
Does the ATM really cost me nothing?
For free placement, yes. We buy the machine, we supply the cash inside it, we pay for the wireless connection, we cover the servicing, and we carry the insurance. There is no lease, no monthly fee, no setup charge and no minimum transaction requirement. Your contribution is roughly two square feet of floor space and a standard electrical outlet.
What do I get out of it?
Two things. You receive a share of the surcharge revenue from the machine, paid monthly — that share is negotiated with you before anything gets installed. And separately, cash withdrawn inside your business has a strong tendency to get spent inside your business, which for most cash-forward retail is the larger benefit. What either of those is worth depends entirely on your location, so rather than quote you an average that means nothing, we would rather look at your actual traffic and tell you what to expect.
Where does the surcharge money come from?
The person making the withdrawal pays it, on top of whatever their own bank charges them. It never comes out of your register and it is never billed to you. Surcharge revenue is split between the ATM operator and the location according to the placement agreement.
Why don't you publish figures for what a location earns?
Because published averages are close to useless and often misleading. Two stores on the same street can perform completely differently depending on foot traffic, customer mix, whether there is a bank nearby and where the machine sits inside the room. Quoting you a number before we have looked at your location would either oversell it or undersell it. We would rather have a short conversation and give you something real.
How much space and power do I need?
About two square feet of floor space and a standard 110V outlet within reach. Our machines connect wirelessly, so there is no phone line to install and no cabling to run through your walls. If floor space is tight, we can look at through-the-wall or countertop configurations.
Am I locked into a long contract?
No. We use a short placement agreement rather than a multi-year lease, and if the arrangement is not working for you we will pull the machine. We would rather earn the placement every month than trap you in it.
What happens if the machine breaks?
Every machine we place is monitored around the clock over its wireless connection, so faults usually alert us before anyone in the store notices. Many issues are fixed remotely. When a physical visit is needed, we are reachable by phone or text seven days a week from 6AM to 6PM, and after-hours texts get answered.
Who is responsible for the cash inside it?
On a free placement, we are. We supply the vault cash, we load it, and we carry the risk on it. That is one of the main advantages of placement over ownership — you never float your own money.
What if my business gets robbed or the machine is damaged?
The machine and the cash inside it are our property and our insurance exposure, not yours. Our units are anchored and built to current security standards, and we will walk your location to pick a placement that is visible, well-lit and covered by your cameras.
Is an ATM safe to have in my store?
In practice, having one tends to reduce risk rather than add it. The machine is anchored, monitored and time-locked, it holds far less accessible cash than people assume, and it is normally placed in the highest-visibility part of the room. It also cuts down on the amount of cash your own register has to hold, since fewer customers are asking for cash back.
Do I need to worry about ADA or EMV compliance?
Not on a placement — that is our responsibility, and every machine we install meets current ADA requirements for height, reach range, tactile keys and audio guidance, along with EMV chip acceptance and PCI PIN security standards. If you own your own machine, compliance is on you, and we are happy to audit what you have.
Can you take over the ATM I already have?
Usually, yes. Send us your current agreement and we will tell you plainly whether you can leave, when your window is, and what a better arrangement would look like. If you are stuck for a few more months, we will tell you that too rather than talk you into a problem.
What kinds of businesses do best with an ATM?
Anywhere customers prefer cash or where cash unlocks a sale: liquor stores, markets, gas stations, bars and nightclubs, barbershops and salons, smoke shops, tow yards, laundromats, car washes, restaurants, hotels and swap meets. Volume matters more than square footage — a small busy store beats a large quiet one every time.
How fast can you install one?
Most locations in our core Orange and Los Angeles County territory go live within a week of signing. Other Southern California counties run on a scheduled route, so timing varies — we will give you a real date rather than an optimistic one.
Do you provide ATMs for one-day events?
Yes. Festivals, concerts, fairs, car shows, races, airshows, swap meets and private parties. We deliver, install, load, monitor and remove. We can often accommodate short notice when another provider falls through — for those, call rather than email.
What areas do you serve?
All ten Southern California counties: Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Kern and Imperial. Orange and Los Angeles are our daily-coverage territory; the rest run on scheduled routes. We also serve Las Vegas for events.
Do you charge my customers extra to cover your costs?
The surcharge is disclosed on screen before the transaction completes, exactly as required, and the customer can cancel at no cost. Surcharge levels are set to be in line with what other machines in your area charge — pricing a machine above its neighborhood is a fast way to make it stop earning.
